Project Title: LIDAR based Road Border Detection at IAV
Tool: Visual C++ 2010 Express with IAV Ares as the Framework
For my Master Thesis I have developed a module for Road Border Detection in C++ using IAV ARES. Working in the department of Highly Automated Driving, detection of road borders is an important aspect of Autonomous and Highly Automated vehicles. Using the point cloud generated from the Lidar laser scanner as an input, I have developed a module which can detect road borders for various scenarios and conditions. The road border is mostly provided in the presence of crash barriers in motorways and the curbs in Urban Environment. This module has its maximum use in curved roads where it is hard for the vehicle to determine the path of travel based on the information from the camera based modules.
