- Implemented the new value added tax in the UAE and in Saudi Arabia (introduced as of
January 1, 2018) by adapting internal controls – i.e., mechanisms, rules, and
procedures—and by launching several SAP updates after extensive testing.
- Reached a final solution with a Middle Eastern official authority to resolve a tax
assessment with a limited final settlement and – in another case – successfully defended
the company against a tax query for almost two years, preventing an assessment and,
therefore, financial as well as reputational damage.
- Initiated and managed a regional intercompany settlement process to drastically reduce
intercompany balances, resulting in lower tax exposure, account maintenance, and thus
overall costs.
- Formalized capital spending as well as set-up, operating, and extra costs of the
company's new acquisition – two brand new rigs with contracts in Saudi Arabia – before
reporting to the board of directors.
- Reclaimed a withholding tax from a Middle Eastern official authority after winning the
case due to sound documentation of the financial reporting evidence and close
collaboration with local authorities.

- Completed the spin-off from Noble Drilling and settled final transactions between the
new entity Paragon and its former owner, before building and growing the divisional
finance team to a total of five people.
- Led and completed the local Chapter 11 restructuring process for financial matters
while closely working together with internal as well as external stakeholders to set the
building blocks for long-term success.
- Implemented a new reporting software – after extensive testing locally as well as in the
corporate offices in the US – resulting in more efficient/effective financial reporting for
both internal and external purposes, at much lower maintenance costs.
- Chaired regular board of directors meetings, among others, in Switzerland and on the
Cayman Islands ensuring full compliance of the legal entities – also by interacting with
various internal stakeholders directly.
- Achieved a 25%-reduction in overall operating and shorebase costs by acting as a major
driver of the cost reduction program with the goal of renegotiating various contracts,
especially its tariffs.

- Activated the Smart View add-in for Excel to view, import, and create reports utilizing
Oracle Hyperion resulting in more efficient/effective financial reporting.
- Participated in trainings as well as in the final user acceptance testing of Oracle
Hyperion in the UAE and in the US – after being identified as a key user of the software.
- Assumed full controlling responsibilities for a Region Controller in Australia during his
five weeks’ holiday.
