My name is R. B. and I am a freelance consultant focusing on innovation, digital strategy & transformation, venture creation and product management.
My studies in Mechanical Engineering (Product Development) and Innovation at the Technical University of Munich gave me the opportunity to deepen my fascination for technologies and innovations. During my studies, I had the opportunity to complement the theory I learned with practical experience in various roles related to entrepreneurship in a fast-paced environment. A particular impact in my professional development was left by my stay at Stanford University as a Visiting Scholar. During this time in Silicon Valley, I not only had the opportunity to conduct empirical research on startup performance drivers, but also to assist a startup in successfully raising a funding round. The experience I gained in the U.S. led me to launch my first startup project, Artfair, after completing my master's degree, which developed databases and algorithms to estimate auction prices for art objects. Bootstrapping the company and private reasons of the founding team led to the decision not to pursue the project further.
As a next professional step, I joined as the first employee in a company builder founded by McKinsey consultants who saw a strong need for services around digital strategy and new business model development. On a daily basis, I helped clients in various industries develop digital business models, product prototypes, and raise corporate venture capital for in-house ventures in board meetings with product owners.
When the opportunity arose for me to take ownership of an innovation project in the healthcare data space, I decided to take the opportunity as a freelance consultant. Since then, I have completed projects in a variety of industries and provided lead support for most of them. Exemplarily, I advised an independent European technology institute in developing a prototype for a health data consent solution and a venture capital fund in evaluating business opportunities in telecommuting and PropTech.
In my most recent project, I designed and developed a responsive meeting productivity application with a business angel consortium. In doing so, I took on the role of product owner and gathered requirements with user groups in a structured way and validated the product concept with mockups. Furthermore, I was responsible for the design and development of the website and the frontend of the application and managed the agile software development process. Finally, I was able to successfully lead numerous user onboardings and tests for UX/ UI optimization.
