I have been involved as a Project Manager in 3 projects during my complete time at ING and was involved in them from start (requirements gathering, analysis, use case creation, solution design) till end (various testing phases like unit tests, system testing, user acceptance testing until golive and aftercare):
1: Retail NWE: a project with the Retail part of ING, helping them to implement a new system called Europort, I was doing the Commercial banking part of the project and the communication with all involved parties;
2: WorldWide Horizon: implementing a trading system called Horizon in Singapore, New York and London;
3: Transaction Reporting Control Framework: Making sure ING is compliant with the external regulators. This is a very complex project, cross-border (UK, NL, BE), cross-business (EM, FM, IIM, Retail), cross-regulator (AFM, CBFA, FSA) and cross-system.
I also had a PPQA-role within the Horizon rollout in AMS and BRU (see CMMI-documentation for more information about PPQA).
Apart from the above project I have also been involved in the following projects, as a Project Manager/Business Analyst:
1: GIN: Global Intercom Network: introducing a VoIP system in Financial Markets worldwide within ING;
2: Global RMDS: Reengineering of the current Thomson Reuters Market data system, making is one global system within FM/EM in ING all over the world;
3: Summit Position Keeping in CEE: roll-out of Summit as a position keeping for some CEE locations (here I also work as a Business Analyst).
Furthermore I also replace my manager when he is on holiday, do Financials/HR for the department (also MTP).
In my 3 projects, I have to deal with people of all over the world, from Tokyo to NewYork, different cultures, hereby different approach is a main key to reach the best result. I also have to deal with people of all layers of the bank, from a programmer or support analyst to a senior management, on the level of CIO, COO or managing director in the front office. Also I have to dig in into the subject, for example, performing a role of a BA in my Summit PK project, or understanding the network for VoIP system. Extensive travel is a part of the job, but I like it very much.
In some of these project I had to deliver my objectives in an agile way. First the primary method used was prototyping (so deliver a first instance of a tool rather quickly and then tweak this together with the end user). Towards the end of my time at ING, they started making the switch towards using a scrum methodology. Hence I know what this methodology is and how to use it.

Projects: I have been involved as Project Manager in the SalesUp project. This was aimed at optimizing Sales and general process flows. I have analyzed the existing information streams and came up with suggestions and ideas on how to improve these. Also, a Derivatives project was initiated in the FM area and as Business Manager I was involved as the main Front Office contact for the Project Manager. I had to resolve and chase issues, communicate with Ops/IT/Finance departments and escalate issues to senior management.
Main responsibilities: As a Business Manager for Financial Markets I was responsible for and involved in doing all sort of tasks like sorting out issues in FM, optimizing processes, automatization of the processes, following FX/MM and bonds trading and sales and the risks reporting and analysis, preparing management reports, cost control, headcount and HR tasks, budget and MTP processes, setting up trainings and seminars, get or extend trading licenses on exchanges, translating documents for foreign staff and all sorts of adhoc requests from FM management and head office (I was basically the right hand of the head of FM and trading/sales management). In this role I had to communicate with different local regulatory parties like the exchanges (MICEX and RTS), Central Bank, Federal Treasury and FSFM.
One of the tasks I had was optimalization of Sales processes. I worked a few days with Sales/Traders on FX/MM seeing what their job actually includes, and after that we started a project (based on Lean principles) to get rid of unnecessary steps, in order to let Sales/traders work more efficient. This small task became a big project, as I had to continue in the back office. I did the same with our Position keeper lady, resulting an automatization of most of her tasks.

First I entered ADA (Application Development Academy), followed by a project (programming in Magic) in Leidschendam.
Methods and Techniques: Turbo Pascal, Visual Basic, SQL, Magic programming ADA(Application Development Academy): During a 4 month training program at Pecoma IT, the following subjects have been discussed:
A software construction training (ADA) in which the principles, concepts and structures are teached of: - Procedural programming and PSD's - Turbo Pascal - SQL and RDBMS - Visual Basic 6.0
A week "System Analysis and System Design" training, in which Problem-, Process-, Data- and Functional-analysis are being discussed as well as different development methodologies like LAD, RAD, IAD, DSDM, SDM and Structured Analysis by Yourdon. - ITIL Foundation
At the end of the training a 4-week case was performed where the newly learned knowledge was tested in practice. Based upon a global project description the whole system development cycle needed to be followed, whereby in the end a system has been delivered that tackled the requirements and needs as defined in the project description.
