I am involved in Volkswagen Group major project to centralize VW National
Sales Company (NSC) infrastructure in APAC to their Regional Data Center. The project aims to improve IT infrastructure and services by having a reliable and sustainable system that will cater current and future IT requirement of the organization. My role being a technical lead for various
workstream is to ensure the readiness and stability of the Regional Data Center (RDC) and provide solutions on how to migrate BU / NSC’s system from their current setup to RDC. This has been made by having a readily available Data Center that will cater to the business requirement. My role also includes analysis, planning, design, operational related tasks, execution of technical related activities, commercial related activities, vendor management, and communication/coordination.

The project scopes were:
i. To migrate WAN infrastructure of about 170 sites of ThyssenKrupp in Asia Pacific Region to a Telco Managed MPLS. My role is to ensure successful migration of all these sites into standard Network Solution provided by the project. This includes analysis, design, planning, vendor management, and actual execution and migration. All these sites in scope were successfully migrated without any business impact.
ii. To build 4 new Data Centers in Asia Pacific Region in preparation for centralization. My role is to established network connectivities into these Data Center to ensure services installed in it will be accessible from the business unit.
iii. To create and help improve network standards and processes. My role is to improve and help create some new standard and processes to operate the new network infrastructure.

a) My Roles and Responsibilities:
i. Consultant
• Provide design and consultancy work for Chevron’s Network infrastructure as well as Video
Conference Solution.
ii. Project Management
• Plan and execute major network initiatives of Chevron to enhance network performance
following Chevron’s Project Methodology.
iii. Operations
• Manage and operate Chevron owned Global MPLS Core Network and Asia Pacific Regional
MPLS from Telco Providers, APAC Data Centers. Providing Level 2 to Level 3 support
• Vendor Management. Deal with different major Telco Providers and Network hardware
vendors by ensuring the company is getting the right solution from them while maintaining
the reasonable cost that the company benefits and not sacrificing the Service Level
Agreement.
• Plan and do Asset Life Cycle Management which objective is to ensure that network devices
in place are still supportable and making sure that business unit include planning and budget
for any replacement required for this.
• Continuous Improvement. Work with various team on how to develop a process to become
more efficient
• Maintain reliability of the network infrastructure in the region by reviewing and following
the procedures in place (Incident Management, Change Management, Evergreen process,
Business Continuity Plan (BCP))
• Work with IT Auditors to ensure that managed network complies with Enterprise standard
and following best practices as well as doing the defined process in place.
• Closely work with IT Managers in the region and Core team in other region to understand
and provide solution to business unit requirement according to Global Standard.
