Successfully delivered end-to-end deployment of Dell-EMC VxRail nodes, delivering the bank's first software-defined storage (VSAN) environment and enabling migration away from legacy infrastructure.
Designed and configured the vSphere and VSAN architecture for the new software-defined storage capacity block, advising on technical design, security requirements and business readiness throughout.
Built capacity reporting and analytics dashboards using PowerCLI/vROPS to support datacenter exit decisions and decommissioning planning.
Defined and implemented firewall and network security requirements for the VxRail deployment; established role-based access controls to meet internal audit and regulatory compliance requirements.

Since 2018, I have acted as the primary IT advisor and systems administrator for Glasgow Flying Club, supporting all aspects of the organisation’s technology and digital infrastructure.

My role covers end-to-end IT management including user accounts and device management, Microsoft 365 and email administration, website management and development, AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure, VoIP phone systems, networking, endpoint security, CCTV/security camera systems, and general IT support. I also advise on technology strategy, cybersecurity, operational improvements, and system modernisation across the business.

A major part of the engagement involved a complete redevelopment and overhaul of the organisation’s website and customer experience, helping modernise the business and dramatically improve online engagement and conversions. The changes contributed to sustained sales growth of approximately 300–400% over time, while also improving operational efficiency and customer service across the organisation.

I continue to provide ongoing strategic and technical support across all areas of IT and infrastructure.

Delivered a major Cisco UCS-based infrastructure refresh underpinning a bank-wide overhaul of in-branch systems, coordinating across vendor, network and application teams throughout.
Configured VMware ESX/vSphere and Cisco UCS at scale using UCS Service Profiles for consistency and repeatability; owned firmware, patching and security hardening across production systems.
Identified and delivered cost optimisation opportunities across the UCS estate, providing concrete ROI improvement recommendations to senior stakeholders.

End-to-end deployment of approximately 30 new UCS domains comprising several thousand blades, alongside vSphere cluster builds and expansions — contributing to a global platform supporting over 260,000 virtual machines, one of the largest VMware deployments in the world at the time.
Implemented network deployment process improvements delivering ongoing cost savings in excess of $1.5M, directly influencing tooling decisions and vendor release roadmaps.
Led security and compliance remediation across RHEL and Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 VMs, systematically driving vulnerability counts down to meet regulatory thresholds and audit requirements.
Configured VMware ESXi environments, vCenter server and VM estate across Microsoft and Linux platforms at global scale; managed Nexus switch port-channel and interface configuration supporting all UCS deployments.
Supported datacenter exit and server decommission programmes through data analysis, capacity reporting and migration planning across a globally distributed estate.
Provided regular briefings to senior management across all project stages; collaborated across Capacity Management, Production Readiness and vendor teams in a fast-paced, high-stakes regulated environment.
