Challenge:

Deliverable
In just 12 days of support, I delivered a cohesive MVP concept—including user flow, designs, and specifications—that established a clear structural and usability foundation for future development.

The starting point was a mix of unaligned ideas and directions. I helped the team bring clarity to their thinking, structured the approach, and focused the effort on enabling quick learning and iteration through efficient decision-making, clear documentation, and a user-centered design foundation.

At WHATEVER.WORKS, a startup offering a B2B platform for workations around the world, I worked over a period of 10 months on designing various features to make the platform more functional and user-friendly. This included, among other things, developing an editing feature for already requested workations that affected the approval workflow, as well as supporting the integration of HR systems from a design perspective.

I created user flows, final designs, and product specifications, working closely with product managers, internal stakeholders, and both backend and frontend developers.

When both the lead product manager and lead designer left the company later in the project, I became a central expert for product and design, with extensive knowledge of previous collaborations and product and design decisions. This allowed me to significantly contribute to the further development of internal processes, helping to shape them based on my prior project experience. I also took the initiative to create the company’s first product documentation, which described all features in detail – organized by topic, with screenshots and explanatory texts.

During these 10 months, I designed both smaller features and platform-wide initiatives, guiding them from the research phase (such as stakeholder interviews) through to handoff to the developers. Additionally, for one initiative, I conducted usability tests with users, documented and analyzed the results, and used these insights to further optimize the product.

Lexware GmbH is one of the leading providers of web-based accounting software solutions and part of the Haufe Group.

Lexware is currently working on expanding its target audience from small businesses (up to 9 employees) to companies with up to 50 employees. Initial research showed that reporting and analytics features are particularly important for larger companies to support better decision-making.

The goal of the project was to understand the underlying needs, motivations, and challenges through qualitative interviews and to define an initial MVP.

At the beginning of my involvement, my focus was on planning the project and gathering all requirements, goals, and potential constraints through discussions with relevant stakeholders within the company. In addition, I conducted a comprehensive analysis of existing information to gain an initial understanding of the new target group and to formulate initial hypotheses.

A key part of my work was the preparation, execution, and systematic evaluation of a total of 30 qualitative interviews. I also took on the planning and facilitation of stakeholder workshops to strengthen collaboration between various teams and interest groups and to spark innovative ideas.

Based on the insights and ideas generated, I developed various approaches in the form of wireframes and prototypes. These were continuously refined through close collaboration with product managers, designers, and external industry experts into a viable initial solution.

To ensure the solution met user needs, I conducted a total of 11 problem-solution interviews. The insights gained were ultimately incorporated into the development of an MVP concept.

EOS is a global pioneer and one of the market leaders in the field of additive manufacturing / 3D printing.

The company’s objective was to revise and potentially expand its existing customer personas. The goal was to develop a set of personas based on the existing knowledge within the organization that could be applied by teams across all global markets.

At the start of the project, it was essential to understand and identify the requirements, goals, and motivations of key stakeholders across different regions (NA, EMEA, APAC), as well as to analyze the company’s current customer segmentation.

Based on the insights gained and additional research on the topic, I developed a framework for internal alignment, which was validated over several rounds with experts from all three markets. Once the core elements of the framework were confirmed, I conducted interviews together with a colleague – also a strategic designer with many years of experience – involving both customers and EOS sales representatives. The goal was to enrich the framework with deep insights and expert knowledge.

The final results and findings were presented in a concluding company-wide presentation attended by relevant stakeholders from all three markets.

Our main achievement was to establish clarity on how EOS customers can be characterized on a global level and to lay the foundation for a shared knowledge base. This knowledge base will play a key role in the future development of various materials aimed at improving and deepening customer understanding within the company.

Upday is a news aggregator platform developed by Axel Springer SE in collaboration with Samsung.

In support emails, many users expressed a desire for more interactive features within the Upday app (iOS & Android). The implementation of such interactive elements was seen as a promising opportunity to boost user satisfaction and, consequently, increase the number of active users.

To tackle this challenge, I followed a structured approach: reviewing initial insights from previous user research, identifying user needs, conducting research on gamification features (competitor analysis, best practices), formulating How-Might-We (HMW) questions, brainstorming and prioritizing ideas with the team, developing a concept based on the prioritized ideas and iterating it based on internal feedback, creating designs for both iOS and Android, and finally handing off the designs to the development team.

The main outcome of this project was a set of high-fidelity designs for Android and iOS, along with corresponding user flows for two interactive features: a share count and an upvote function.
