Vanderlande Industries is one of the leading factory conveyor manufacturers. The company provides hardware solutions including the software to manage these solutions.
I was asked to take on the role of software architect to oversee the development of a parcel/postal (sortation) project for SF-Express (Shanghai Post). The hard- / software solution was to be able to sort parcels to one of the 500+ ‘chutes’ (sort of post bags) for further distribution according to predefined rules. To make this possible a team of 8 software engineers, 2 system architects and 1 test manager was formed.
The following tasks were expected of me: inform project management of status, daily standups, design software components in model (EA) and code, prepare unit tests, (re)create database and deploy, guard architecture, code review, partially maintain JIRA, maintain project wiki, overcome cultural and language differences, finish.

Designed a system to capture http server messages of incoming port requests and store these in a PostGreSQL database.
Pair programming with specialist. The project was planned for one month but completed within one week.

Designed and build a software system to support the domain migration of the customer. Used by migration managers to track and report migration progress.
Design and build: SOAP web services, databases and applications, progress reports, bug lists, design and create dashboards. Eventually deploy the solution.
