Über mich
Starting with phase Zero feasibility studies and trade offs strongly interacting with the other engineering disciplines in order to derive if there are designs existing that will meet the requirements and fit into the outlined launch systems, potentially indicating the need of technology developments, I'm used to work in such an dynamic early project phase where creativity, flexibility and new ideas combined with the heritage what is possible, are key for finding customer satisfying solutions.
If the mission is selected to be subjected to a phase A study, the system configuration trade off is continued and finally judged in order to be able to present a baseline configuration to the customer with the BCD proposal. In such phase A work I can provide general engineering judgements based on the 20 years experience and lead first mechanical and thermal analysis checking for the driving parameters of the design.
With entering the system implementation phase, typically following the SRR, PDR, CDR, QR, FAR milestone development and production life cycle, I'm able to conduct the role of the mechanical and/or thermal architect that is now more sticking on the implementation of the chosen design on a strict schedule and cost basis, so stopping "dreaming" of an again and again optimised system, but delivering on schedule, on cost and on quality meeting the customers requirements. If the customer requirements are changing, the handling of change requests and the opportunity to create additional profit out of these request, is well known to me. The typical phase BCD tasks of leading the CAD design, mechanical analysis via FEM and thermal analysis via TMM, supporting specification generation, reviewing subcontractor data packages, providing inputs to AIT, supporting AIT in the clean room and during the tests, conducting vibration and TVAC tests, preparing test reports, dealing with non conformances, presenting to the customer and finally interacting with the team in a cooperative manner are very well known to me.
Also the support of the launch campaign on site the launch pad is within my knowledge perimeter with last preparations of the spacecraft and the mating with the upper stage of the launch system.
