We are currently looking for a freelance Planning Engineers (m/w/d) with a strong Energy/Utilities background for one of our clients in the energy sector.

Project name: Development Clean Dispatchable Power Projects GER/DE/UK/SWE

Project description: As part of the client’s growth targets multiple projects / sites are currently under development. The projects range from developing new, H2-ready gas turbine power plants to developing and deploying battery solutions on client sites to identify, prepare and develop the decarbonization path for some of the client’s sites holistically and to prepare the respective infrastructure enabling investments.

Focus:
The focus should be on major projects, ideally developing power plants (i.e. not developing them during construction, but in the initial phase).


Tasks:
Professionally steer and coordinate the client site asset development and transition projects (greenfield and brownfield) for a specific power station site (provided by the client in advance) based on own knowledge and experience and under consideration of:
strategically relevant technologies
innovative business/ operating models
partnering, contracting and financing (project finance, strategic equity investment)
stakeholder management
Provide technical consultation to the development project team (weekly online-meeting) regarding innovative technologies at the site in line with the client strategy (provided in advance) based on own experience. Technologies:
H2-ready power plants and batteries and
heat/process steam products
Collecting and analyzing competitor, supplier and market intelligence in the client’s core markets from a project development perspective based on own expertise
Document the final results from the analysis and present them in an online-meeting for a sign-off
Prepare a document which shows the current project status and development progress at the site and present it in a weekly online meeting to the project team

Must have:
For the individual projects we need experienced engineers partly with a solid commercial background. Typical profiles would come from the industry and would have a utility / power / infrastructure background. They will work as work package leads or deputy of the client project managers. Coming from a solid engineering background, flexibility in thinking to develop / maintain options, improve and accelerate development and very strong communication skills are required. Fluent English to lead discussions and workshop is a must. Professional experience should be min. 4-6 years and 6++ years for senior roles. German is also needed.

Location: mainly remote (80-90%), sometimes onsite in Düsseldorf for project meetings/workshops.
