Projektbeschreibung

Data product:

A typical power grid contains a multitude of power generators, power consumers, power transformer substations and transmission lines. The connections between the power generators and consumers, and the substations form a network that allow power generators to share the load of all electricity consumers. Almost all types of activities within the two TSOs of Group require a reliable view of this non-trivial network guaranteeing data integrity. We call such view the Network Model. For example, the Network Model is used in Systems Operations for dispatching and outage planning, it is used in Grid Development to perform various simulations, and it is used in Asset Management to determine asset policies, to facilitate the link between Systems Operations and Grid Development, and to perform System Risk Assessments. Finally, the Network Model is also used by Work Management for safety, switch, and work operations in the field. The goal of the Network Model Data Product is to make this data available through different channels in different formats throughout the entire company for all types of usages.

Tasks:

Today we are confronted with the evolution of the energy landscape (integration of renewable energy and decentralized production, arrival of new players on the market, closure of central production units, arrival of batteries, EV, CRM, CEP, etc.) and the possibilities of digitalization (automation, AI, remote monitoring, etc.) combined with the major ambitions of the main activities (support electrification, flexibility integration, congestion management, etc.)

Data is key in supporting these evolutions within Group: data is increasingly an enabler for decision-making processes (operational, tactical, strategic). However, we face several data-related challenges:

Roles and responsibilities regarding data management are not clear and aligned today,
Issues with the timely/quality delivery of data initiatives,

To meet these challenges, we want to focus on:

Introduction of data domains. All data are divided over domains, every domain is assigned to an owner. The owner then becomes accountable for the data in his domain. He is supported by the data steward, who is responsible for monitoring data quality, etc.
The switch from IT-led data products to business-led data products. The responsibility for high-quality, timely delivered data products lies within the business. The development of the data products is to be done via multidisciplinary (business and IT) teams and is led by a data product owner.
Extensive training and coaching to support the transition.
Governance of all this is important and will also be set up.

Before planning a rollout of the new roles and responsibilities, business data products and supporting training and governance across the organization, a number of pilots will be set up to test and refine the approach. A first wave of pilots is planned for 2024 Q4, more pilots can follow in 2025 before a general rollout.

We are looking for a data product steward for these pilots, but later also for the final products. The following activities, among others, are part of the duties of a data product steward:

The Data Product Steward

collaborates with the Data Product Owner
to spot opportunities for data-driven improvements and monitor existing data quality and traceability;
He/she builds with the Data Product Owner the

data roadmap
and draft proposals on how to enable leveraging of such data;
The Data Product Steward is responsible for the development of the strategic

vision
and the end-to-end lifecycle of one or multiple Data Product(s);
He/she will therefore

support a long-standing product team
(containing business and IT members) to ensure the Data Product realisation;
The Data Product Steward supports the Data Product Owner to

define the SLA’s
of the data it will serve to the organization. These SLA’s are formalized through data contracts that describe the services offered by the team, guarantee a certain completeness, correctness,... of the data, indicate who to contact in case of an issue and also provide security and privacy details such as the criticality, confidentiality,...;
In collaboration with the Data Product Owner, he/she captures and

documents
the

Business Concepts, Business Terms, Business Rules, the Business Lineage
under which they fall, their Business Impact, etc., so that the current data governance level for that activity can be measured (KPIs);
The Data Product Steward

identifies data quality issues
by defining and monitoring KPIs and makes sure that proposed solutions are followed up (curative actions or long-term solutions). He/she will play a big role to shape and maintain the data governance set up and to provide status updates to the responsible bodies;
He/she

leads the root causes analyses
when the current value of a KPI doesn’t match with its target and communicate the necessary corrective actions and improvements to the Data Governance Committee;
He/she

provides hands on support
on existing Asset Performance Management digital tool as an admin user.
