For our client we are looking for a Compute Delivery Lead (f/m/d).

Location: Berlin, 75% remote (3 weeks remote/ 1 week onsite)

Role:
Compute Lead, part of the Core Infrastructure Delivery team to oversee about 12 compute engineers.

The Compute team lead has two major responsibilities. The team lead acts as a Compute lead engineer who has the technical knowledge to translate the given requirements derived from feature into the necessary implementation steps (user stories) and document them with the team.
Within this role they work jointly with the Compute / IaaS architect to align solution details and observations from the engineering perspective.

In addition, the Compute team Lead coordinates the compute engineers. He tracks the status of the engineering tasks and reports the status to the Core Infrastructure Delivery Lead. He tracks risk and issues arising into the team and reports accordingly.
The Compute Lead ensures the team's availability and is responsible for
estimating resource requirements according to the high level roadmap.

Targets:
Compute Lead Engineer: The Compute Team Lead translates the compute architecture into design and engineering requirements. In addition, he will align with the infrastructure architects.

Furthermore, he is responsible for the following technology areas.
- Dell and HPE compute hardware and lifecycle management
- Provisioning of operating systems and maintenance of installation images (RHEL, Ubuntu or others)
- Security hardening and automated customization of operating systems
- End-to-end automation of provisioning processes (Ansible, Terraform, Python-Scripting or others)
- Automated provisioning of virtualized resources via VMware, KVM, ESXi or other technologies
- Integration of network services and designs, provisioned by another department

Skills (must-have):
- General
o Able to build and manage the designated compute team.
o Able to derive a high-level design from a given architecture and provide guidance to the implementation engineers.
o As lead you are expected to maintain engineering skills to lead by example.
o Good troubleshooting skills.
o Planning & performing update & upgrade scenarios for the core technologies.
o Managing 2nd level support with vendors.
o Understanding what change control means in a critical environment.
o Maintain a constant feedback loop between architects and engineers in an agile framework.
- Server provisioning
o Compute or virtualization engineer with documented experience
o Experience with hardware provisioning, at its best experience with Dell and or HPE servers and respective vendor support
o Deep experience with Linux, optimally with RHEL and Ubuntu
o Experience with remote management, updating, patching of large-scale compute clusters
o Hands-on experience with VMware or other virtualization orchestrators
- Operating system management and automation
o Automation engineer with documented experience
o Security understanding for hardening operating systems
o Automated provisioning of operating systems and software installation in large-scale compute clusters or virtual machines
- Agile Project delivery
o Experience with Jira, Confluence and Miro or similar tools
