Setting up and maintaining a High-Performance MariaDB Galera Cluster with 3 nodes in an HA environment necessary to avoid downtimes and avoid large outages. The challenge here was to migrate the new MariaDB cluster without long downtime. By implementing MaxScale as a proxy we were able to route the traffic without large application changes. To avoid a single point of failure we also made sure that we have a replication slave outside the DC with slave a delay of 2h.
