Safety Coordinator (SiGeKo) on one of Germany’s largest HVDC transmission infrastructure projects, supporting the safe and efficient execution of construction activities within a large-scale HVDC land cable installation environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Coordination of health and safety requirements across multiple construction contractors within a defined project section
• Close collaboration with site management, project stakeholders and construction teams
• Coordination and guidance of a small team of safety coordinators within the project section
• Monitoring construction activities with regard to safety, compliance and project requirements
• Supporting the implementation of practical HSE measures within ongoing construction operations
• Conducting site inspections, safety briefings and coordination meetings

PROJECT ENVIRONMENT:

HVDC land cable installation, civil works, HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) and cable pulling operations.

Through this role, I contribute to the safe, structured and efficient execution of large-scale HVDC infrastructure construction works.

Supported senior site management on a major HVDC infrastructure project, contributing to the coordination and execution of complex construction activities within a large-scale project environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED:

• Supporting the Senior Site Manager in coordinating construction activities and daily site operations
• Assisting in planning, organising and monitoring construction processes across multiple contractors and disciplines
• Acting as a key interface between site management, contractors and project stakeholders
• Monitoring construction activities with regard to safety, quality and project requirements
• Supporting the implementation of HSE standards and safe working practices on site
• Contributing to structured communication, reporting and coordination within the construction team

PROJECT SCOPE:

HVDC offshore grid connection including converter stations and cable infrastructure

Through this role, I gained extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure construction, multidisciplinary site coordination and supporting site management functions within an HVDC project environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED:

• Providing HSE support as Safety Engineer (FASi) and Safety Coordinator (SiGeKo)
• Supporting civil works and HVDC cable installation (trenching and cable pulling)
• Close coordination with site management, contractors and project stakeholders
• Conducting site inspections, safety briefings and daily coordination meetings
• Supporting high-voltage testing activities from an HSE perspective
• Monitoring compliance with safety regulations and project requirements
• Investigating incidents and supporting implementation of corrective measures
• Ensuring documentation and tracking of safety-related activities and inspections
